Default Stupid question...about lowering

the 10 wide glide has that bobbed rear fender look but it seems to sit up kind of high. How do you lower it? Do you have to change out the shocks? I don't know much about this kind of stuff so any help would be good and how much does it cost?

You can use lowering blocks which reposition the bottom mount of your rear shocks or you can replace your rear shocks with 11" rear shocks.

The cost can be anywhere from $50 for a lowering kit to a few hundred depending on the type of shocks you go with.

Ok so does that make the reach to the handle bars farther away? I struggle getting to them as it is.

I don't think it will affect your reach, never really thought about it though.

Mine has 11" Progressive 412 shocks which lowered it 1" over stock for a Street Bob. Not sure the length of the Wide Glide shocks though. I also lowered the front 1" by sliding the fork tubes up in the trees, but will be adding the Progressive drop in kit instead.

So my husband said he heard that if you drop the front and back (you should do both at the same time so it doesn't look weird right?) it will affect the way the bike rides and it make it more rough. If that's the case I won't do it.

I installed 11" Progressive shocks on my Streetbob right after I got it and left the front stock. I can't say it didn't look good, it did. This past fall, I installed the Progressive Drop-in kit in the front, mostly because it handles better though some say it doesn't. I have no doubt it does. I can't say the reach changed either way. Seems same to me.

If you lower it with progressive shocks at the back and use the drop in kit on the front(choice of drop depending how much tube you cut in the kit)the thing rides like on rails, better but definately harder so take that into consideration...
The reach will not change, the seating geometry won't change at all..it doesnt move the handlebars, seat or foot pegs anywhere different to where they are now just your that bit lower overall and if your short maybe that helps planting your feet on the ground better when you stop.
