Default Has anyone fit an 06-10 seat on an 04-05?

I am looking for a solo seat for my bike and have been searching everywhere for this answer.

I have found a few threads on here that say you can add a longer rear tab to fit an 04-05 seat to a newer dyna but nothing about the reverse.

Is there a way to make this work?

There are a ton of good used 06-10 seats floating around for cheap but I'm finding very few 04-05's. I know I could buy a new one that would fit but I'm on a pretty tight budget right now and don't mind making some mods.

I believe SC-Longhair did the opposite, and if that's the case, it should fit, check with him to be sure.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I'm going to guess that since there was little response it is not something that is either easy, or possible to do. I was just hoping there might be a way to shorten up the longer seat on the newer seat I did not know.

According to SC he bolted an 04 seat up to his 07 and it was just a bolt on, I don't know details, but if an 04 fits on an 07, it should work the other way.
If you can get a smokin deal on the seat, go for it, if it doesn't work, resell it.

I posted the same question about a week ago. The response was the same. 96-03 have similar seats, 04-05 similar, 06 and up. I just got my bike a few weeks ago, and I am having the hardest time finding a used after market seat. Le Pera sells nice seats for around $200 bucks, but I just dont want to spend that much. Especially when I see nice 03 seats selling for under $100 bucks. Ugh!!...you just opened up an old wound. lol

maybe just save up for a while and get the one you really want. at least you are able to ride. keep an eye on ebay and craigslist. you are right about them being higher priced than other years but one is bound to turn up.
