Default 2" Tank lift question

Just did the 2" lift and love the look.

Wondering if the lift affects the amount of gas the tank will hold?
Is the fuel guage thrown off, or does it still read about the same? Not that it is that accuract to begin with.

Thanks

Don't know about the quantity of fuel. I never pay attention. But it does effect the gauge. On mine it will never read all the way full so I don't pay attention to it anymore I just go by the mileage.

Thats a trick question, right?? a tank holds how ever many gallons its designed for. ie... 5.5 for the dyna's and something like 3 for the sporties.

all the lift will do is lift the tank up giving your inner tank guage a different reading..

but givin my research, the reading is off by maybe 1/4 of a gallon, give or take 10-15 miles, depending on how much and how hard you ride it.

ok whats my door prize.

I was told that an 2'' lift would reduce the availability of fuel from the tank by about 8%.
By the way my Dyna SG only holds 4.8 gals bone dry without the lift.

That sounds about right. But the damn thing looks sooooo good with it that i won't remove mine! So i ran it dry 1 time to find out just how far i could push a tank and now i know how to interpret the guage.

Thanks. I generally go by miles. Just working on the averages right now.

This helps.

There is no way a 2" lift will make that much difference. I'm a professional nuthin so take that for what its worth.

Put one on man it throws most guages off (some it makes more accurate)...

Even on long rides I'm ready to stretch my legs every 120 miles or so. My tank out lasts my knees any day.

True enough, that.
Fuel stops every 150-160 miles or there about were very welcome on my ride to Oklahoma from L.A.
The need to stretch my legs and pry my butt from the saddle was met each time I stopped for fuel.
