1998 fxdl conversion to mid controls help
my wife is too stretched out with the forward controls and i want to try mids. looks like there is a "stub" in the middle of the outer primary so i am hoping that is some kind of shaft i can use? can anyone gine me insight on how to do this conversion and where to get the parts - what i need, price, effort, etc.

Low Riders originally came with mid-controls, converting back is just a matter of finding the parts and installing them.
If the shifter shaft still runs through the primary the lever should also be there behind the primary stapped to the engine holding it out of the way.
You'll need your mid-mounts for the pegs as well as your brake lever and linkage. You will also need the linkage for the shifter.
Lots of parts to be found on ebay or check with a local indy shop for old take off parts they have stuffed in a trailer out behind the store.....

this turned out to be a piece of cake. did some searches and found alot of good info. turns out that my low rider came with mids and was converted to forwards. dealer had everything i needed as new takeoffs for cheap cheap $$. i wouldnt have bothered if the shaft wasnt already in the primary.
