Default popping on decel

I did a search and found many results. Not really any for a 05 superglide. I have a se air cleaner kit and se slip-ons. Have a lot of popping or what almost sounds like a backfire when I decel. I don't think there are any exhaust leaks. The header pipes are stock. As far as I know they were never taken off. Could it be the pipes? I really don't like it. Kinda sounds like crap. Any suggestions?

do you have a carb or fuel injected. My bike popped on decel with slipons. I have a carb. sometimes it can be tuned out however often this ends up in an overly rich mixture for a carb. Also the idle rpms can play a part in decell pop.

Many factors will contribute to this. Popping on decel (especially a high rpm one) is perfectly normal and can (will) occur at different times. With the stock mufflers, you dont hear it as much, but now that you put something a little more free flowing you do.

It is carbed, and I meant a '95, not '05. Sorry. I'm thinkin' it may be the type of slip ons. It did it with and without the baffles. I'll pull the plugs and see what color they are and go from there for tuning. I was told it was jetted, but was told it was rich. It doesn't look like it takes much to check.

I would say with the air cleaner on there some carb work is in order.
also with a bike that old I suspect intake seals may have a leak
and also the carb donut.
spray the intake seals when the bike is hot at idle
if the think coughs and dies, you have a leak

been back and forth on this myself went to BCT baffles in the V&H sideshots for a bit but lost top end so I have now gone back to V&H stock baffles (loud as all f__k) so now I get popping on decel, and sometimes on gear change.

My work around is to keep revs in the range where i don't get it unless I don't really care (running hard etc) kept the top end power and only have to take it easy in the mornings leaving home.

Pulls hard all the way through the range, and is tuned with Vtune so I know its spot on.

Its really a taste thing.
