Question ---? The best tire setup for an 07 sb ?---

I have read numerous tire threads, and i still need an awnser to my questin.

i have an 07 Streetbob, it has stock laced wheels with the wide tire kit from SE on the rear end. I want the widest, best performng and longest lasting tires that i can buy for the front and rear.

some people say that ican run a 120/70-19 on the front with the stock front rim and fender, some say that radials on front and back is the bestway to go.

what tire company makes these awesome wide tires tha i seek, what are they and what tubes do i ned to run with them?

THANK YOU TO WHOEVER IS WILLING TO TAKE THE TIME TO AWNSER THESE QUESTIONS.

don't think you'll get a definitive answer on what are the "best" tires but I know a few guys have put the 120 from the vrod on the stock 19" front dyna rim. JRK has done it and it looks killer. that's prolly the "best" match to your SE rear..... you can go up to a 200 on the back (quite a few on here have done it) if you want too....... its all up to you and what YOU think is best. All the brand name tires have their pros and cons.

The widest & best performing size, I would say would be a 180mm. As for brand names you'll hear all different kinds, but for me the metzeler 880 180/55zr/18 is my choice. But then again I'm running a 5.5" wide rim, so your stock 4.5" will have less tire size options. As far as wear goes, that all depends on a lot of things, proper air pressure, road conditions and the rider themselves. High torque/horsepower output helps lower the life span too, lol!

Tires are not a definitive subject. Most everyone has a favorite mfg. I personaly like Avon but I think that their profile is a little too narrow for the street bob. Metzlers look good and have the right shape. Continental makes some that fit and I've been wondering how they look on a bike. Their Conti road attack is a good tire for sport bikes.

Neither the SE 180 or the Pirelli 180 will give you "long Lasting" tire wear and they are your only 180 options (widest) for the 4.5" wheel.
I have been some what sold on (but have not tried) the Avon Venom 110/90-19 or more likely 100/90-19 Front and the Storm 160/70-17 for the rear. The rear is obviously not as wide as either of the available 180s, but take a look at the rear tire and I will bet that you have some pretty wide chicken strips on there. The Storm 2 is also a dual compound tire so it should wear well? The Storm 170/60-17( (still not as wide as a 180) is an option, but it is almost 1'' smaller in diameter than the stock tire so I don't know how that may affect speedo accuracy? Others have used it and have not complained or don't care.
Your only real option for the rear is a wider wheel and you may want to move to a 16" or 18" by looking at your tire options.
I currently run Pirelli Night Dragons F&R. The front ND is not that wide and I use the whole face of the front tire, but on the rear I have not come close to using the whole tire and I lean till I scrape. There is no way you are going to use the whole face of a 180 or wider with the stock suspension and I doubt if you will use the whole face of the rear even if you use a longer shock in the back. So the wider tire is really just for looks.
I am going to a 12.5" or 13" shock on the rear so I will probably stay with the 180 ND, but go with a 100/90-19 Avon Venom on the front since it is wider than the front ND and I will probably use more of the front tire and rear with the increase ground clearance.
CB

The Venom 110 front is actually 119mm wide so it is pretty wide.
Venom 100/90-19 is 109mm.
The Storm 2 160/70 is 166mm wide so it is a little wider than the stock 160.
The storm 2 170/60 is 170mm
