Default Mounted my WindVest to the Triple Tree

Got tired of the riser mount brackets. Just couldn't get them in the right position. Had oversized brackets with rubber between the brackets and risers, kept slipping around. Finally decided to mount right to the top of the triple tree, much more solid and seems to deflect the wind better too.

Thought I'd share.

I did have to drill and tap two 1/4" x 20 holes in the tree. The holes actually lined up with two wells in the bottom of the tree.

What do you think?

Should stronger and a lot more stable. Is that the 14" or 16"?

That's the 14", got it off ebay for $150 with 1.5" riser mount brackets, my risers are 1.25" at the point where I attached. Initially had rubber clamp material to take up the gap. Worked OK, but allowed them to slide up the risers and tilt back a bit.

That looks pretty good. Mounting it directly on the trees looks Waaaaayyyy better than on the risers. How does it do at re-directing the air flow? Ride impressions?

That is a really good idea. Are you planning on selling your old mount. Thanks

Thanks, was really aprehensive about drilling but started with a small bit and worked out just fine.

As for the air flow, same as before around the sides, better below, (over the top of the tank), and even though a it's lower by a few inches, having it be more rigid, I think it's even better over the top. It used to lean back and let the air hit me right at the top of my head, now, I still feel the air there but the pressure seems to be reduced.

I'll probably hang on to the mounts just in case ...

Looks great, I'm going to do the same to mine. I have a wind vest that I kept from my V-Rod, I was going to buy the mounts for my FatBob but your idea is much cleaner. Love it, well done.
