Default Is it me or is it the bike ??

Is it that I am being unrealistic with my 2009' FXDC's stock performance on the highway or is 75mph all the bike has !! I mean she has plenty of throttle left it's just that the loud buzzing RPM's sound like she is about to blow up at this speed. I mean I am getting passed by Japanese makes with two up, comfortably. Is this normal and something I have to live with or something that can be addressed??. Thanks !!

What gear are you in at 75? Is your clutch slipping? My '08 FXDC runs all day at 80mph without high rpms. At what speed do you shift into 6th gear?

My bike runs great at 75 no problem and it does not sound like it's going to blow up between 80-100 either.

I regularly run 80 on the way to work each day for long periods of time. I had a metric bike pass me the other day so I cranked her up to 100 and followed for about 30 seconds no problema other than the 100 MPH wind trying to push me off my bike

BTW, I cant hear my motor over say 65 just the pipes rumbling.

Crank her up see what happens. Its under warranty.

Sounds like the bike has a problem

I'd say your throttle cable to throttle housing needs to be readjusted. If your opened up and you're peaked at 75. Sounds like the throttle cable is not tightened up.

Check the play on your intake plenum, see if she is lined up with the twist of your throttle.

I have an 09 FXDC and hit 75 around a fifth of the throttle open completely stock. I rarely get on the throttle unless I'm passing someone.

75 and nothing left? Yeah, I'd say you've got a problem. 75 is no problem for this stock 2009 fxdc.
