great ride today
had a beautiful afternoon free.
ate some lunch with the girlfriend. kissed her and off she went for work, and off i went on a ride.
decided to blast down by the beach and see what was going on down there.
soon as i hit the highway, stop dead traffic.
i rode the right lane for a while and lo and behold, i come across a guy on (off, actually) an older model wide glide on the side of the road. i pulled off to see what was up and his alternator had gone, so i asked if there was anything i could do for him but someone had come along with a charger and he was just waiting for the bike to have enough juice to start it and get himself home. he thanked me profusely and off i went back into traffic.
i get back on and i'm sitting in traffic when i pull up next to a guy on a 2010 ultra limited.
we say our hellos and mutter about the traffic and he says hey, wana get to the beach faster?
he leads me off the highway and we blast around windy side streets for half an hour or so until we end up on the road i was trying to get to in the first place. once there we cruised at about 75 down to the beach, he split off to go home and i continued to cruise the beach roads for about 2 hours then headed home myself.
in total put about 200 miles on the scoot, made two single serving friends, and soaked up some perfect weather down by the beach.
not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
i love my f*ckin bike.

Sound like you had a great afternoon. That's what riding's all about.
Last Sunday, hubby and I hopped on the bikes for a quick ride. We had crystal blue skies, no wind and around 75 degrees out. Very ABNORMAL weather in Northern Michigan for May and on a weekend to boot. Like the farmers around here say.....ya gotta make hay while the sun shines. We live in a rural area with minimal traffic...but it seemed all the bikers were out in force. We stopped for gas and a fellow and his gal, who were riding a 2008 CVO Ultra Glide, pulled up next to us. We struck up a conversation and
looked over each others bikes. After 1/2 hour or so, they headed off North to Luzerne, MI for lunch ( just that week, there was an 8,000 acre forest fire in Luzerne) and we headed back to West Branch. Only put on 115 miles on that afternoon and wished we had time to have gone on forever.... Got back home with sunburned arms and faces.....and huge grin's from ear to ear.
