Taken my fuel cap apart today and powdercoated the whole rig. Now the bezel around the fuel gauge stands out like a beacon. Can this bezel be removed from the gauge? I took the cover off the tank but never looked to close to the bezel.
Option is the HD chrome bezel cover for 04's-Powdercoat that puppy if it's metal. Perhaps someone here could tell me if thats metal before I order one? Thanks

 

I know jmpancoast has taken one apart, you might ask him.
But why not just mask and paint it?

 

the trim around the gauge is metal, sand, mask, paint.

 

Painting is definatly an option I thought about. New day today so I'll meander out and take a closer look and probably go with the painting. Thanks for the help.

 

I have not disassembled a FXD gauge, just a FXDB gauge, so I am not help to you there.

I did use the chrome fuel gauge bezel for an ignition switch mod and it is metal Only cost about 10 bucks.

 

Hmmm, my bad I thought you took yours apart and fit it under your switch...

 

Naw, gotta a couple Street Bob gauges donated so I could tear them up for that. Was affraid I would want the FXD gauge to go back to stock if the ignition switch mod wasn't what I wanted.

 

BTW. If you need one I have a spare one taking up space.

 

Thought I would follow up and thank everyone for their help. Painted the gas bezel as I could'nt remove it without risking screwing the gauge.
