Changing headlight and housing...

try a relay kit
This will give you full (13.2-13.6) voltage to the light instead of the 12v from the ign switch. The small downside is 20% less bulb life.Worth the trade0ff

I did this on my 07' SB. Disassemble the stock headlamp connector. The fat portion of the wire grommet is on the inside, but you can work it out with a blunt screw driver with out any damage if you take your time, I sprayed the grommet with some silicone spray lube and just pulled it out the back and then just pull it through the back of the new housing also using the same spray lube. I am pretty sure I posted some not so good pics of this a while back.

This is an old thread but takes up just what I was planning on doing: changing the headlamp housing without splicing but instead re-use the H-D connector from the old housing.
NoLongerAmember, MyBeerBelly and the threadstarter: Do you have any advice for me when doing this that hasn't come up in this thread yet? Would be very appreciated if I got some hints in the right direction on this.
