Prescription bike glasses.....?
Who's got them, what'd you pay, where'd you get them?
Right now I have to wear contacts to ride, and at night switch lenses in the glasses I wear over them. Big PITA plus my contacts have really been screwing with me lately. HD wants about $400 by the time you are done, and I just got new contacts and glasses this year through my insurance, so I'd have to wait till the end of this year IF they would even cover perscription transitional bike glasses......
Anyone have any input?

I got them in transition polycarbonate lenses for $182 shipped. The lenses change tint from clear to dark depending upon lighting conditions and are shatter proof. They were able to put my prescription in the frames which were made for motorcycle riding being aerodynamic. You should check them out.

Prescription bike glasses.....?
+1 on the Wiley X prescription sun glasses. I've worn a pair of Top Jimmie graduated bifocals for about three years. I just ordered a new pair (Brick). Polycarbonate lens, polarized, anti-glare coating, UV protection. Expensive, even with insurance, because of the extras, but worth it.

I bought a set of Wiley-X only to find out being near sighted means prescription motorcycle glasses are worthless. Fisheye effect because of the curve in the wrap-around type frames.
Set me back 300$, which is all but wasted. Just talk to an optician first to make sure the frame you choose and the prescription you need won't end up being a total unfixable mess.
I got a pair of guard-dog goggles that fit over my glasses. Cheap and functional. Shoulda just gone this route to begin with.

I am near sighted and don't have a problem. what do you mean by "fisheye"? Could it be that they had the wrong PD - pupil distance apart to center the field of vision that is causing you trouble? Anyway, here is a thought that might help. I got talked into a full face helmet after howling ringing ears from riding without ear plugs. Was so bad, I could not go over 55 mph without pain. I thought it would be hot, uncomfortable and disconnect me from the riding experience. WRONG !! I feel better connected with the bike without disturbances. It is actually cool when riding because of the forced ventilation and comfortable. No more sand in face, no more ear ringing, no more squinting at upper speeds, no more bugs nor changing eye glasses back and forth. I can wear my everyday glasses inside after I put on the helmet by lifting the helmet visor. Just a thought. The difference is like driving a car with your head out the window versus inside with all the windows up. Well, each their own cause different folks have different strokes.

brandon and joe,
both great ideas....I would not even have thought of that! I'll check out both, thanks! Got any pics of the glasses you got? Esp. the ones from WalMart?
The full faced helmet is another option I hadn't thought of, lol. That may be last straw.....my Doc wants me to stop wearing contacts NOW, until my right eye heals up. It's just too nice not to ride for the next couple months, so I have to do something now. Looks like a trip to WalMart may be in the cards tomorow, lol!
