This may be a silly question. But what are "Prescription bike glasses.....?"?

I have worn glasses most of my life. Come to think of it, I have ridden motorcycles most of my life also. But I have never had any "Prescription bike glasses". I would just get on my scooters and ride. If it was a dirt bike, I would just wear goggles over my prescription glasses, and ride.

Once above 55 mph the wind gets behind the lenses and causes most riders to squint. Riding glasses are wrap arounds to prevent that wind from getting inwards. Motorcycle glasses have foam seals to blocked out the elements as well.

The full faced helmet is another option I hadn't thought of, lol. That may be last straw.....my Doc wants me to stop wearing contacts NOW, until my right eye heals up. It's just too nice not to ride for the next couple months, so I have to do something now. Looks like a trip to WalMart may be in the cards tomorow, lol!
Dont have any pics but they basically look like any other silver frame motorcycle glasses.

Okay, makes sense I guess. It just must not be something that riders in Vegas wear. At least none that I have seen.

I have a pair of Tourque glasses from Rec Specs. They were about $300 + with transition lenses and my Rx. The rec specs were the best fit for my big melon head. I love the hell out of them.

I got some Orange County Chopper ones from work when they were selling "safety glasses", less than $100. I also paid with my benifits card, LOL. They are more like gogles because of the big split between the eyes. They do keep the wind out of my eyes but, don't use them to walk around in.

BTW, I don't own an OCC t-shirt. If you send me one, I'll wash my bike with it.

The other consideration about "bike glasses" are they're made of polycarbonate so they wont shatter if you get hit going 70mph...... You really shouldn't wear regular glasses.... or you could go blind or lose and eye. Prescription Bike glasses usually have an eye seal to keep dust from getting up under the glasses......and the glasses are vented and anti fog coated.

I have the Transitional (Photochromic) lenses that I purchased through "Panoptx" who were bought out by "7eye". I too am nearsighted. I can attest to getting a "wrong prescription". Went to an Ophthalmologist ( an MD) and got the Panoptx. Had a real problem trying to see. One eye was just "off" I thought....but suffered with them. Last year I went to an Optometrist and was re-examined. Compared RX's..... and the MD's numbers were way too strong in one eye. Got new lenses put into my frames and now I can see perfectly.

Main thing is to get transitions (Photochromic) so you dont have to carry 2 sets of glasses ( goes from clear to dark depending on sunlight) and the the polycarbonate shatterproof lense.
I paid way too much for my glasses through the Harley Dealer... shelled out $380
Go to any Opthamoligist and they'll be able to show you what they have available in Motorcycle Prescription eyewear.

No, the prescription was dead on, they had my PD since I had had it measured and they managed to get it right. I've talked to 5 opticians and they all said the same thing, the wrap-around type frames require the lens to be off-center which is about impossible to cut since you run out of lens before it reaches the outside of the frame or if the glasses are narrower, the outside edge is so thick even with thin lenses that it just doesn't fit properly.

You can't be riding on the highway or at speeds above 55 mph then because the wind makes your eyes tear up in a way that it is close to impossible to see.

I did about 60 highway miles with just my prescription glasses last year. Never again. I could hardly keep my eyes open.
