At 57 years and having my wife give me my first Harley, an 06, Black Cherry Street Bob, for Christmas, reading the rest of the winter months, waiting for the March arrival of the Bob, taking the Basic Riders Course, meeting great folks, this forum, yep, I couldn't agree more. I ride with a wife who rides a metric and who's sense of humor says "I already had friends so I didn't need a Harley", but encourages me to live the experience to the fullest. New Samson BG3 Street Sweepers, SE/Stage I, SERT, and an intimate relationship with a dealer that can only be understood by another HD owner. I guess it would have been good to start earlier in life, but with the kids raised, retired from one First Responder career and now in another, I rather think the feeling of freedom on my Bob may not have meant what it means today. Either way, I agree, something positive happens when the 88 runs.

That's the way it is Ron - probably for most of us. I wear a suit, colar and tie during the week, but come the weekend ...

I must agree. I have owned several bikes before, most all metric racers. When you are on a metric race bike, you feel like you have to go faster or ride the wheeley longer then the next guy to be somewhat cool. But man, when you step over the might HD steed and start that motor and move on, you are cool, nothing more is needed. Funny, when I owned the metric, we would be in a parking lot, see a Harley drive by and say, dam that is nice. I now enjoy riding as much as possible. May be losing some none HD buddies, oh well.

And now you know what we mean by "if I have to explain, you wouldn't understand". You can't make somebody understand, you either feel it or you don't.

RE: 1st time harley owner
I've been riding since 1969 . Been riding a Harley since 1990 Like a fool I traded in a Ultra Classic for a Victory92TC in 2002 rode it for less than 3000 miles traded it in for a 2002 SuperGlide I've got 35000 miles on the glide I love it . I'm always going to be a Dyna man The Glide fits me like a glove. Best bike I ever owned. Victory might be The New American Motorcycle but it's no Harley
