Wondering if anyone has come up with a way to remove a glued-on left handgrip without ruining it. I have an HD foam grip on the handlebar that I just removed to install mini-apes and was thinking maybe there's a way to save the handgrip. Heat gun? You'd think they'd make it with a sleeve like the throttle that could be clamped once in place. Just a thought. Any help will help. Diggin' the new mini's!!! Had to do some creative re-routing of the switch wiring but I think it's gonna work ok. TK
Vinegar. Slip something between the grip and the bar so you can pour a little white vinegar down between. It will loosen the glue so you can slide the grip off.
take a pick or something and lift the lip of the grip up enough to spray in some kind of solvent like WD40 or whatever you want to use (if the previous grip was held on with CA glue like the Kuryakyn grips come with use nail polish remover) then blow compressed air under the grip to break it loose. Works well.
I've got "Big Orange" in aerosol & sprayed some under the grip (similar to Goo Gone, but in a can). Ditto on the hairspray for re-install b/c it grips w/o all the glue mess.
