Default Lower 1" in rear, will it affect my kickstand?

Another thread on here just got me thinking about this, will 1" lower in the rear really make any difference with using my stock jiffy stand?

When I lowered my RK one inch in the back it had no affect. When I lowered the front one inch to even the bike out I noticed it didn't lean into the jiffy stand very well. The bike never fell over but it made me nervous on more than one occasion. I looked for a shorter jiffy stand but never found one.

I just ordered a Burly Slammer Kit which lowers the whole bike up to 2 1/2". The tech at JP Cycles said I did not need a shortened kick stand but the bike would not lean as much on the stock stand. This is on an 09 FXD.

I've lowered mine 1" front and rear, it's been like this for a couple years now with the stock jiffy stand and I have had no problems at all.

You might find you have to lean right to get the jiffy stand to clear the ground going up or down but the bike will be fine once on it.

I got more jiffy stand lean after lowering mine by removing some material from the top of the lock tab.

Lowered my "Low Rider" front and rear, and I have to tell you, thing practically stood upright. EVERYONE was nervous around that bike for fear it would tip to the right.

On level ground.....you're probably fine. BUT let me tell you..... Park on uneven pavement, or one that slants up on the left.....and good luck trying to get the the jiffy stand FULLY down WITHOUT having to LEAN THE BIKE WAY OVER TO THE RIGHT FIRST to get the stand fully forward and locked. If you pass that "point of no return" while leaning to the right, and reaching back with our left leg..... you're all through and the bike's going over. END OF STORY.
Also better be careful on bringing it down from a lift all by yourself too. It will take your breath away.

Last winter I finally got fed up with being a nervous wreck and installed a 1" shorter Jiffy stand. It's actually easier for me to swing my leg over now ( I'm exceptionally short) and the bike's lean angle is vastly improved....to where it should be.

I lowered my SG 1", had to go with a 1" lower jiffy stand as a part of the HD front lowering kit. Did't like the stock one ,very little lean to it .

You got it. Just pop off the stand and take a little off the top of the locking tab. Probably a 1/16". It's free and very easy to do.

One word of caution....have someone hold the bike up for you when the jiffy stand is off or the bike will fall over!!! Ha Ha.

Its a 1 beer job.
