YES THEY HAVE TO BE REMOVED... if they are not sure man you may want to look at a new shop bud...
bearings will not take cure heat, they will leak out what is packed and could cause seizing issues. I have had tires lock up on my while getting it down the road... it just stops and you the rider KEEP GOING! I have worked with several diff bearing companies on custom CNC wheels and all of them have made specific points to be sure to tell me that the bearings can NOT be put in the oven during curing...
but the new sealed bearings, reg bearings, or shielded bearings will not take the heat bud, wheel bearings never see close to 200 alone in operation... if they do they will seize unless they are made for that application (motorcycle bearings are not)
250 degrees is MAX for industrial bearings... the seal in the rubber will get brittle and cook and break, the grease will eventually run... and will stop the wheel... this is no joke bud. it is dangerous!

thanks for all the info. the shop powder coating them is a race shop owned by the company i work for. the guy i talked to when i dropped my wheels off isnt the guy doin the powder he just kinda helps out the shop. im kinda thinking its time for new bearings anyways i think the previous owner let the bike sit outside because it has less than 5k and the wheels are pitting and the outer metal part of the bearings are rusted. on that note whos makes a good replacement bearing? i use to use all ***** in my gsxr but couldnt find if the make em for harleys
