I had someone ask me last weekend "Is that a custom tank? It looks a lot wider than the normal sportster tank". This thread immediately came to mind and I had to laugh.

I can't imagine being offended at someone confusing my Super Glide with a Sportster. Easy mistake. I've actually had people ask me if my 75 Honda CB750 hardtail was a Sportster. At least my Super Glide is a V-Twin...

You got to expect it when they share the same front ends, fenders, wheels and shocks. Dyna is a sporty on steroids. It is what it is. Not hatin' just sayin'

Is that a Sporty in your pants?

Why, no, it isn't. It's a Dyna.

Oh!

Well, was laughing at this thread then the other day the guy that parks next to me at work (who suddenly decided he might want to buy a bike) says " that's a sportster, right? I saw a Harley Wide Glide the other day that I really liked.". I pointed to the battery cover, and left.

Lotta folks go by the traditional peanut tank to decide if it's a sporty. On mine, it's not, "is that a sportster", it's "what kind of Harley is that?".
