Remember...most average folk know two things about harley. Sportsters and Softails because they are the most popular model families. Most know nothing about the little family in between.

A while back when I bought my 03 883R . I dropped by to pay a visit to my Mother and when I pulled into the driveway, she opens up the living room window ,sticks her head out and says "That looks like a dirtbike" so thats what I ride and love it! Thanks to Ma, thats where I get myuser name here from!

My first season on my Low Rider I had a few of these comments, try explaining the Dyna family is a completely different line and all the other responses to that "is that a sportster" question....my second season I just stopped explaining and either smiled and said yes or cracked the throttle and rolled away ...with the same smile. Im sure now with the bags and the new wheels and other chrome bits going on this season I'll get more of the soft ail questions.

Yeah....I got that question last week myself. Nearly sprained my neck when my head whipped around to face the questioner. He just bit his lip and muttered.....

"No........I suppose not....."

Had to laugh!

my neighbor has asked me "Is that a Sportster?" twice and I'm sure he'll ask me again...

Fit's the response to most weekend warrior riders that ask me that question. Usually the guys on the grandma & grandpa cruisers, or the scruffy carpenter with a non-working bike under a tarp under a tarp packed deep in the garage that thinks he is a Biker. I stopped caring, just smirk at them with that twinkle in your eye that says "You are such a dumbass".
