i had that happen once...guy was like nice sportster. i said thanks man i appreciate that, but its a dyna. he said "ohh a dyno...the sportster rear end threw me off" at that point all i could say was thanks.

the best one though was when i was sitting at a red light. guy on a nice old indian pulled up next to me and said...wow that bikes in great shape for being so old...i didn't say anything, light turned green and he rode off. still don't get that one

First time I have seen your bike, very cool.

No offense to my bike being called a Sportster, love them. Just wanted a nice way to edify my clients at work.

I like the answer " Thanks, kind of like a Sportster with a bigger motor, called a Low Rider" Think I will go with that. Thanks Folks

can't really mistake a wide glide for a sporster. I have had people tell me "nice chopper".

Bike Week last year...a couple of dudes rode up on me while I was sitting in a rest area, one on a custom OCC bike and the other a Harley bagger. Says me...is that a Big Dog? Nice!......my bad.
Meanwhile, the bagger dude goes on for 15 minutes about his nephew's Sportster and clearly, he thought mine was one too. I left first and the bagger dude finally noticed the motor. His eyes were like saucers.

I get that too, then they look at again, and aren't sure why it isn't a Sporty, but they realize it's not. Next try to explain it's a Dyna Convertible...I just tell everyone it's a Superglide. They get that.

I was coming off an intersection and some kid in a chevy truck decided he wanted to race. Well, I blew his doors off of course and when we got to the next stop light, he was acting surprised and asked if this it was a 1200. I said nope, it's a 1584. He just had a blank expression on his face.
Many people only know of two Harleys. The Sportster and the Fat Boy.

I wouldn't be offended by the sportster comment anyway. My brother and some friends all ride Sportsters and they're hot bikes. They were quite impressed last night when they couldn't catch me, being they often smoke many big twins. They all have theirs tweaked a bit... but so do I.

I've got the nice Sportster one too many times, so I removed all doubt and left them scratching their heads....
