Yeah....been there.
I usually tell 'em that that it's kinda like an S.O.S. (Sportster on Steroids!!).
Then I tell them ......nah, it's just another Dyna Low Rider with a few modifications.
Usually makes for some pretty good conversation though.
Have fun with it....that's what it's all about.

Do ya think it may be the back fender that throws them off a little?

Lt Rex,
You may be right.
When people would ask me if it was a Sportster, I would usually reply that it was a Dyna.
They would almost ALWAYS say.......a Dyna Wide glide?
That seems to be the only model that a lot of people know as a Dyna.
So, I just started telling them Dyna LowRider.......then it's just, Ohhh........what's that?
Hence, the extended conversation.
They usually thank me for taking the time to explain the different models of the Dyna line.
I do enjoy talking with people.

Well, they do have a lot in common with the exposedshocks and all.Maybe thats why they are harley's best handling bikes.I love my superglide but I would also have a sportster if I could afford one.

That Lowrider's a nice looking bike. Probably why he thought it was a Sportster

Seriously, if I could afford a 2nd, it would probably be a Dyna.

If you want to set the straight from the beginning replace your battery band with a battery band from an 08 Dyna Custom that says "Superglide" in script lettering

Thanx rfranz1952,
They DO have a LOT in common....and do look similarfor sure.
I will be buying my wife one this summer....She is already signed up for the Motorcycle Safety Riders Edge Course at the end of March.
It will probably be an 883 Low though, because my wife is 5'5".
She has already tried them all out, she likes the Low,and she wantsmid controls.
We'll see.....after she passes the course!!!

Well - I've read about it happening plenty of times - but it finally happened to me ...

*************************************
glide, I got pulled over a couple weeks ago
cause I was hauling *** on the InterState,
on my SuperGlide.

Cop asked me if the speedometer onmy SportSter worked.

I said it did, and he commented how much better
the SportSters look nowadays.

Then he told me I need to slow it downa little
and let me go with no ticket.
