I've only gotten the "Sportster" comment once. A while back, though, I had an interesting question. A friend and I stopped at a local bar, one where the bike parking is easily seen from inside the bar. My friend rides a Softail.

A guy in the bar came up to us and said to me "I really like your bike, what is it"? I told him it was a Dyna (Street Bob). He then asked my friend what he was riding. When my friend told him it was a Softail, the guy said "yeah, that's what I want to get". So, he preferred the look of the Dyna, but he wants to buy a Softail. Go figure.

Hell, I always thought a Super Glide was just a Sporty on steroids.

97 FXD, and yes it will woop a sporty, especially after 90 mph or so

First time it's happened to me. Leaving the hardware store and a guy in a truck next to me compliments my Sportster. I politely correct him that it's a Superglide and thank him for the compliment.

Maybe they should just stick to "nice Harley" you have there. It would even make the metric guts feel good.

 

Coz it looks like a big Sportster, beside these people are probably not bikers. You know what ur riding & we know when we see one so dont worry & enjoy ur ride.

 

It has happened to me and I kind of take it as a compliment. My slammed Low Rider isn't a fat HOG and it can really corner. Adding a Superbrace fork brace really made my FXDL sporty. It is the absolute best add on I've ever come across. If you like sweepers drop the $150.00 and try and wipe the grin off your face.

 

Don't feel bad, the other day some guy asked me how I liked my Night Train. I mean come on........it's wayyyyy better than a Night Train.

I get that too, I usually reply that it's two Sportsters with what I paid for it. Could be worse, at least they don't ask if it's a Yamaha.

 

I was hoping this would never happen to my, but it did this past reno trip. was at a gas station and an old guy gasing up next to me asked..."hey, is that one of those sportsters?" I laughed right when he asked that because I thought back to this post. After I cracked up for a bit I told him no, and schooled him a little about my 07 street bob. I must say, I laughed more then anything.
