33,000 miles, probably not the most miles put on the 96" with a 6 speed. However, I have only had the 1000 mi service done by the dealer, after that I have just changed the oils and filter and keep the nuts and bolts tight. I will be checking my cam chain tensioner here soon.

I ride it for 12 and 15 hour stretches going to Santa Fe NM. with no problems.

Hope that helps.

No doubt the pistons in your friends 1450 need to be replaced. I had 94,500mi on mine and heard the pistons slapping, and when I checked them, all the teflon lining on them was gone. I put in the 95" pistons & cylinders and everything went back to good, no oil consumption now. Of course, I put in cams and the camplate/oil pump upgrade at the same time and re-jetted. Now it runs like a new bike again but is much more powerful than stock. Still, pretty much, trouble free, other than normal maintenance, and I am still getting 43 mpg, 2-up, and can stretch 50 1-up being nice to it, (of course that is if I'm niiiice to it, which I'm usually NOT)
