Default Too Expensive for Cam/Dyno Tune?

I just got a quote from a local shop (VERY highly regarded and considered the top performance shop around) to supply and install some upgrades to my 08 dyna.

This is for a Woods Knight Prowler TW-6 Cam, Oil pump upgrade, Clutch spring upgrade, Direct Link install and full dyno tune -all parts, labour etc including fresh primary and trans oils. The cost quoted is $2400

THIS KIT INCLUDES:
INSTALLATION
KNIGHT PROWLER CHAIN DRIVE CAMS
S.E. TIME SAVER PUSHRODS
OIL PUMP UPGRADES
CLUTCH SPRING UPGRADES
DIRECT LINK TUNING KEY
DYNO TUNING
ONE YEAR WARRANTY

Sounds kinda steep but I know performace work done properly is never cheap..... what do you guys think?

Um,

If you want to seea real gain in power and torque...

Cams = $390 if bought from Bob Woods direct
Adjustable pushrods = $150-175.
Porting/polishing/shaving heads = $400-$600.
Dyno tune = $300 or so.

At max, in parts = $1400 or so. Install for an experienced person should be more than 8hrs @ $65/hr = $520 That's $1900 +/-.

Not sure of the clutch spring upgrades or oil pump upgrades.

I'd crtainly get the shop to break that down a little more specific.

Is that $2400 canadian? That would be about $2000 US, right? I'm not far off in pricing.

I think it's kinda high. I paid $228. for my cams,"37's", and the install kit was $70. I pulled the rockers and reused my stock pushrods, It's an easy job.

$ USD/CAN is at par now. Way too much money for this upgrade!! Oil pump and clutch spring upgrade is not needed. Sounds like he is padding the bill with unnecessary stuff. Also, does this include the PST and GST? If not than tack on another $360 on to that. You could get a Headquarters Bigbore kit for that kind of money. Do it yourself, you'll save money and learn in the process. It's easy, I just installed HQ-500 cams in my bike last weekend and it was a piece of cake. Also, Longhair, this does not include headwork in his quote.

Ya pretty sure I talked to the same shop as CRF, and came to the conclusion I'd like to do it myself and save the $1400 or so for an afternoon's work lol. Besides, it'll give me and abuddy a chance to get together and drink some whiskey after the job is done hahaha

Too steep....why the oil pump upgrade? Why the clutch spring upgrade?
Your not building a 100 HP + motor. It's a cam job, tuner and dyno

Maybe $1800.00

On a bad day 800.00 for the cam job / pushrods etc
500.00 SE Tuner
300.00 dyno

Thanks guys; confirms what I was thinking (too expensive).... oh and the oil pump/clutch upgrages are just part of the standard stage 2 package they offer...... don't think either are necessary for just a simple cam upgrade and dyno tune. gotta keep in mind though that I dont' currently have any fuel management installed on the bike and this price includes that.... If I did it myself I'd also be looking at having to pick up a Power Commander or sumthn.... so that would add $300 or so to the DIY cost......

Ya, but you could get the FuelMoto PCV and it would already be mapped for the Woods cams, so no dyno would be necessary. Just a thought.
