2006 Dyna Lowrider - HD Slip-on muffler, chrome is getting rough

Ok, title pretty much says it all. Has anyone ever seen this? The chrome on the lower muffler (front cylinder) is developing a rough spot that seems to be growing from the front of the muffler to the end. It is happening on the side only. I thought at first it was road grime or something, but it will not polish out. Recently as we have ridden it more it is getting worse.
Is this the chrome breaking up from the heat inside the muffler? It isn't changing color, but it is losing its slick shine and getting dull and rough.
Thanks

Haven't been there with them yet. I bought the bike used and they were on it. Also, Moco has discontinued these mufflers since they were "too loud". I will complain though since I have a good relationship with them.
