Question Need 'Drag Bar on a Dyna' Advice

I could use some help from the members here - first off, let me start by saying I know I have to sit on the bike and feel it out before I commit. I'd like to get some drag bars on my 03 FXR but am having quite a bit of trouble piecing it all together. I think the difference is that I actually WANT to lean a little more forward (less pullback) but am having trouble determining some good candidates.

I have a 3" tank lift and would like the speedo between the tank and drag bars. I don't really care about brand at this moment; just the dimensions. A friend suggested "Drag Specialties"
http://www.dragspecialties.com/part/...s[]=190586
Model DS-300402 a 10" Tbar but the 12.5" pullback seems a bit excessive as well as the height. Do I need that much to clear the tank? And Can I keep my old tank and mount the speedo where I mentioned?

This comes pretty close to what I seem to be looking for; http://www.wild1inc.com/501mu.html
Chubby 8" Drag Ba... So, does anyone have any advice, warnings or pictures?

Thanks to all.

you can get drag bars with/without pullback in the risers. Or you could go with straight clamp-on risers and get a bar with the amount of pullback you want. This also allows you to adjust the bar to the level desired. Check out J&P cycles or Custom Chrome catalogs to see a lot of options.

I came across a set of dealer take offs, brand new, Night Train bars, risers and cables for $100.00. Fit like a glove on my bob. Not much pull back at all. With you 3" tank lift you may need to have at least an 8" rise to clear the tank.

This sounds like the way to go, just lesson the tank lift 'if/and/or' as needed.

Go with the night train or fatbob type setup with separate risers and a crossbar. The straight up risers should cause you to have to lean forward more as you said. Then just pick the right height risers to get you the room to clear the tank and mount the speedo.

If you can't find somewhere that has the parts you need in stock to dry fit, you should be able to take some measurements (don't forget the angles) and figure it out and order what you need. Might need a 2nd pair of hands to get it right. Sit on the bike and get someone else to measure from a point to where you want your hands to be, etc.
