Dealership cost of 103 seems a little high....
I swung into the local HD dealership to pick up some parts and inquired about having a 103 kit installed. According to the service manager the 103 kit would cost me $2500 installed. This included the 103 kit, installation, tuner and dyno time. When I inquired about the high cost, he told me that the existing cylinders would have to be machined to fit the new pistons. My respoinse was that he was full of shi# and that the kit came with new cylinders.
We argued about what came in the 103 kit and he insisted that I didnt know what he was talking about.
Thoughts.

If you break it down it's probably close to what a lot of dealers are charging. About $650 for the kit, $350 for a tuner, 10 hrs. labor, and the tune will probably be about $300. I'm figuring about $70 for labor since I don't know what they actually charge, so your up to $2000. Plus you have to figure in misc. shop supplies so add another $100. So it comes out to be around $2100 + tax. It's a little high, but in the ball park. But I don't understand why he said they have to bore your cylinders though.

Well...I have a 103 kit for sale and it includes everything except the cams. He was BSing you. On another note, I have SE BB 110 ci kit in my Street Glide and purchased the kit for under $1k, took it to a HD dealership and they installed the kit including case borings and everything for $1100. So, I have a SE 110 ci kit with everything installed for under $2K! The freakin' kit retails alone for $2495 + tax.
If you look around and go the non-traditional way, you can save lots of $$$$. Some of the HD dealerships think everyone is stupid and does not do their homework prior to doing a build.
Good luck!
