Default Shorter Shocks with 18" rear wheel

I am 5'9" and on my 2009 FXDB I installed some Hogpro Daytona's. The rear is an 18" wheel since they dont make a 17" like what comes stock and the tire is a 180. These wheels made my bike just a tad bit too tall for me to touch the ground comfortably.

Can I run shorter shocks without any interference from the rear tire and wheel being larger than stock?

Thanks for the help.

It's been done.If you're concerned about clearance you might want to run a Heavy Duty shock to reduce the amount it compresses under load.

Most go with a lower profile tire when mounted up to a 18" wheel, which keeps the measurements the same of lower than stock. but yes, you can get the 1" shorter shocks, and have no issues.. or shouldnt..

This is one instance where you should avoid using lowering blocks as an option. I recommend 11.6" works performance shocks or Ohlins. Made for your weight and riding style, they won't be easy to bottom out, ride like a dream, and lower the bike about 3/4" in the rear. I think you will be fine with the lower suspension and slightly taller tire wheel combo. May have issues with lowering blocks, cause they lower the bike without reducing the suspension travel.
