Default Gas Tank Trim/Chrome - What's this called ?

I have the same bike as my SIG, although the bike in the SIG is not mine. The only difference is I have a chrome plate on the top of my gas tank, where as the bike in the pic has a Black peice. What would this peice be called, and/or is this changeable without to much work ? I just bought her and the chrome is a little scratchy on that specific peice, and I like the way the black looks. THANKS

It's called a chrome dash console. And it's a pretty simple swap. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

It's the black wrinkle fuel tank console.

Here's a parts breakdown from www.Bikebandit.com. I do not have the oem p/n's; perhaps some other member could check his 2006 parts catalog and post the p/n's over here?!

This is from the 07 parts manual for the FXD but looking at the numbers I'll bet they're the same:

61545-04 Trim Ring, black
61554-04 Trim Ring, brush satin
61652-04 Trim, edging
61692-04 Console, black wrinkle

The chrome piece for the FXDC is 71211-04 but that appears to have the ignition switch on the console (same unit at the WG)

I think the black looks better than the chrome.

Anytime, Rene. I have parts manuals for the 2000 and the 2007 Dynas. After the service manual, best investment one can make in their bike if they plan to replace parts.

Don't think I'm going to like the new HD parts numbering schema however. They're dropping the -XX that indicates what year the part was introduced. Very handy for figuring out how far back one can go and get a match. New format only applies to new parts so our older stuff will still keep the year indicators.

I've added you to my list of parts manual owners. It covers Dyna models from 2000 - 2009 except 2002...

Right you are, Todd; I fully aggree. I even bought the 2003 Dyna Models Elctrical Diagnstic Manual. Got them all from Ebay for about 20-25 USD each.
