Heritage front tire on a Wide Glide?
I've done my research on the forum, and found some good information, and some pretty cool pictures... but I'd like to put a wide front tire (like the Heritage Softail) on my 2006 wide glide... Has anyone actually done this conversion? Did you use the FL front fender too? Is it worth it?
Any opinions would be appreciated.

I think it would work, but you'll most likely have to change out the wheel bearings to fit your axle.
The fender won't work unless you can find an adapter ... your '06 FXDWG has 'vertically' aligned fender mounting on your slider; whereas the Heritage type fender requires 'fore and aft' (or 'horizontal' mounting configuration) ....

A buddy of mine had a Dyna Wide Glide way back (Late 90s)
16" wheel. He didn't like the little pizza cutter
front wheel.
Ran a Fatboy frt fender on it, he also dropped the frt
end a few inches.
Looked good.
I rode it before & after. It was night and day better with the
wider tire up there.

I put a 150 on the front of my WG (no fender). Definitely night and day difference, but "better" or "worse" is completely subjective. It is more stable and compliant but much slower and harder to turn in and transition. Rotating mass goes WAY up so dual disc is much more important and damper settings are probably significantly different. I changed that at the same time as the wheel/tire so can't be certain.
