Default V&H Big Shots a little LOUD

Just hung a set on my FXDC. They are sold without baffles, so I'm thinking about buying a set of baffles. I talked to V&H and they told me that baffles would be 2-3 decibels quieter. Well I want some noise or I would have stayed stock, but what is 2-3 db quieter? Is there anybody that can give me an idea what to expect? I know sound is hard to describe.

I also have a buzzing feeling in my foot peg now that must be coming from the pipes. Any way to stop that?

With the baffles they will still be plenty loud plus you will get the back pressure you need for performance, they also have quiet baffles.

I just put a set on my FXDF about a week ago and yes they are loud. Not too bad when just cruising around, but man do they talk when you crack into it. The pipes actually do have a set of standard baffles in them, but yes you can put quiet baffles in if you want, not sure how much they quiet things down though. I love the sound of mine and wouldn't put the quiet baffles in, but that's just me.

As far as the buzzing, I am not sure what that could be. I would double check all mounting hardware, but other than that ???

Hope everything works out.

Yeah I should have said that they are not obnoxiously loud. Just a bit, so I'm guessing 2-3 db may be just enough. Just wondering what anyone else thinks.

Get a set of V&H Quiet baffles off of ebay.

You will love them!

They take the annoying high pitch noise out of the pipes and leaves the deep rumble. They are still loud but not annoying. Plus for $50 bucks whaddya have to lose. They are easy to resell and easy to install.

Oh... I love mine.

I have a set on my WG and I have to agree, they are a little loud but I like the sound. No quiet baffles for me either.

I believe there is some truth to the old saying "Loud pipes save lives"

Edit: I would like to hear a comparison though.

Here's sound clips of the difference. Min are on V&H slip ons, but they have the same quiet baffle. There is not very much of a difference.

Standard Baffles!

Standard baffles. Keep in mind in this video the bike is up about 10 feet further from the camera. I didn't pay attention to that when I made the videos.
