Default Mounting front tire question

I took my front wheel off my '06 LR to have the tire replaced and now that I'm about to put it back together I just wanted to check one thing I didn't noticed when I took it apart. I do know that the wheel spacers are slightly different widths so must go on the proper side. What I didn't notice was that one of the spacers (right side) also has a notch on the edge of one side. Can't see a possible purpose for the notch and the SM doesn't mention it but just wanted to double check with you guys so my wheel doesn't come flying off on the highway, thanks.

Yeah I got that the wider one goes on the rotor side. The one on the other side has a notch on one side so could be mounted in two possible orientations, notch towards the wheel or towards the fork. My question is does it make a difference?
