Why a bigger wheel in rear for FXDF.
Thinking about purchasing wheels for an 10 FatBob, only options are stock 16" Front with 17" or 18" rears. Whats the purpose of having a bigger wheel in the rear, when mostly all you see/or hear are bigger in the front. My main concern is handling.
Any info is much appreciated.

Thank you for the input, I am new to Harley's (coming from a corner curving street bike) so I wanted to keep the handling dynamics of as the fatbob has now. So bigger in rear & stock size in the front is pretty much for looks.
PM is what i've been looking at, all they have is either a 16" or 17" front w/ just a 18" in the rear.

A couple things come to my mind when changing wheel/tire diameters. First thing is gearing. Taller wheel/tire combo in the rear will give you taller gearing. That's probably the wrong direction to go since everyone is installing the 30 tooth power gearing sprocket to make the bike quicker. The other reason (I think) guys change to a larger diameter wheel is for looks. With a larger diameter wheel, more of it shows without being blocked by the brake discs. When you pay the big bucks for a nice rim, you want it to show. One other thing that comes to mind (and this is from my bicycling background) is that a larger diameter wheel actually takes bumps and potholes differently than a small wheel, (thinks about anything you have that has small wheels that you've had to push around, toolbox, bike jack, etc.) Those small wheels hang up on small changes in terrain. It's more exaggerated, but you get the idea. It's a larger arc which in turn will roll over stuff easier. That's my
