Default Engine light goes on for a couple seconds

Fxdb with 8000 miles. Once the bike starts the engine light goes on for a few seconds then turns off. Anyone know if this indicates something?

Im pretty sure this is normal function (just letting you know that its checking all its sensors) i think if it stays on longer than 3-4 seconds, or if it goes off then comes back on, that indicates a trouble code.

But you can always check your trouble codes to make sure everything is all good. You can search this forum for the how too and code meanings.

Doesn't it come on while the engine builds oil pressure, then goes off when its up to snuff?

This sounds wierd but I had a problem with the engine light coming on caused by a loose horn cable hitting the 2nd cable. Some sort of ground I guess.

I think it also does that when you have a old code.
