Loud exhaust: I guess it's just not my cup of tea
#22
Had to change the pipes after I bought it. Stock pipes were too much like a Honda. The Samson Legends a quiet enough, if I don't push it, to get me out of the neighborhood at 6am, but loud enough to remind me I own a Harley when I punch it. Everyone has different tastes.

I have the DOT ones on my 06 and I like them. I just checked the Harley website for a part number and it looks like they don't make them any more. I'm on a business trip right now but if you pm me I will get the part number off the box when I get home Friday. Maybe you can find a dealer with some still in stock

I will leave the exhaust stock on my next Harley. I wear ear plugs to save what's left of my hearing. As much as I kinda' dig the sound, the Rush slip-ons play on my ears and nerves... When that time comes, I will turn in my "Wannabe Badass Biker" merit Badge.

No they are not removable, at least not without causing some significant damage!
I think I found the part number for the 05 Dyna Screamin' Eagle 49 state pipes, which should be the quieter ones, correct?
80366-99, in case anyone's interested.

I guess I am just too old as well. I love the sound of loud pipes on someone elses bike. I put some new V&H slip ons with quiet baffles on my 08 FXDC last week. Rode around town and loved them, sound great. Got out on the weekend for a half day trip and they drove me crazy. They sound great but they are on eBay now!
