I just had my rear tire replaced December 8, 2009
I bought a K591 Dunlop 160/70VB-17 tire from Motorcycle Superstore. $129.00, free ship, no sales tax, 3 day UPS shipping... and tire is NOT SECONDS, NO BLEMISHES, AND FRESH. I specifically inquired about this.

I paid at Wolverine Harley-Davidson in Michigan to do the job for me. Here's their fees.

Snap Cord/Jug/25..........$6.79
17" tube center valve......$22.36
Rim band 17"..................$3.16
Tire Disposal fee.............$2.00
Labor....1.1hr@80 per......$88.00

Total: $129.00 for tire
$122.31 Dealer charges

Hubby will need new tires for his Heritage Softail Classic and I'll get them from Motorcycle Superstore. Dealer quoted me over $200 for the same tire I ended up paying $129 for.

Bought tires from them about a dozen times over the years, my riding buds as well. Never a problem with their service. My last tire was the Metzler 880 Marathon for the rear of my FXDC about 3 months ago. Got 2,500 miles and so far wearing well.

My stock rear Dunlop was replaced at 7,500 miles.

I managed to catch a deal at J&P Cycles for tires. I think most days MCSuperstore beats them, though.

I paid just short of $300. for taking my Super Glide in to the dealer for a replacement rear tire.

So, last month I paid about $230. for 2 upgraded Dunlops, tire irons, etc... for my Sportster, which I'll do myself. I'm embarrassed about the extra money I spent at the dealer for the one rear tire. Money that I seriously could have used elsewhere. But, I didn't ask about fees, taxes, labor after getting the $160 something quote over the phone for the rear tire, so that's on me.

For the record, they said they'd mount the tires for my Sporty for $45 a tire if I bring the wheels in off the bike.
