Question header phlange torque

Does anyone know the torque #'s on the header phlange nuts for V&H Bigshots? I torqued them to 10lbs,but they came loose after a 20 mile run. I have the SE gaskets also.

60-80ft/lbs. If you used the stock bolts. If V&H supplied new ones (?) you should check with them. The torque value is from an engineering standpoint for the bolts, not the head. That being said, if you used different bolts, you should check witht he manufacturer.

They should be torqued to 120 in lbs or 10 ft lbs. You are supposed to retorque them after the first ride or so. After re-torquing them they shouldn't loosen up again for a while. Just check them periodically.

Dunno about any phlange thingie, but the exhaust flange nuts should be tightened to 60-80 in-lbs according to my 07 Dyna Service Manual (pg 4-41).

Service Manual for my 09 FLTHC specifies 100-120 in-lbs.

Finally, service manual on my g/f's 2000 Dyna is also 60-80 in-lbs.

No problem, I figured that's what you meant. My 09' service manual states 120 in lbs but it must be different for the older models.

Make sure you tighten the flange nuts according to the sequence in the Service Manual.

Front cylinder first:
a: install lower nut finger tight
b: install upper nut and tighten to 9 - 18 inch lbs.
c: tighten lower nut to 60 - 80 inch lbs
d: tighten upper nut to 60 - 80 inch lbs

Rear cylinder next:
a: install upper nut finger tight
b: install lower nut and tighten to 9 - 18 inch lbs.
c: tighten upper nut to 60 - 80 inch lbs
d: tighten lower nut to 60 - 80 inch lbs

Hmmm, they have higher torque specs for 09. anything change? This makes me wonder if one should follow the new specs for the older bikes as well and torque to 100-120 in/lbs.
