Question rear wheel bearngs at 8500 miles

yesterday i went to the dealer to have them replace my rear tire. after an hour the guy comes out and says my rear wheel bearings were shot and needed to be replaced. this seemed strange to me since i only have 8500 miles on the bike and i keep it garaged. i called him out on it and he said its a fairly common problem for the 06 and 07 dynas. didn't really think getting a new rear tire was going to be so expensive. 194.00 tire 60.00 bearings 91.00 labor.
all said and done 370 bucks worth after tax. anybody else have early bearing failures with your dynas??

Mines a 08 but had 17k on mine and no issues. Sounds like who ever put the rear wheel on may have over tightened it.

Just put in new ones but was because of new wheels.

I had a new tire put on last July with about 35K on the rear bearings, still good. Do use a power washer on it? Do you still the bearings, maybe you could show a different dealer/indy for their opinion

02 wide glide with 96,000 miles, still on original wheel bearings and still just fine. Did you get to look at the wheels and bearings before they did the work? I always show my customers the problems so they know I'm shootin straight with them. Always ask to be shown exactly what the deal is before letting someone do something unless they've already gained your trust and you know you can trust them, my2 cents

I had a front wheel bearing go out at 2500 miles. Upon further inspection it was dry as a bone, I don't think it ever had any grease in it. Now I always pop the plastic seal off and check the grease.

fairly common on 06/07 dynas?? thats just bullshit - the 1inch bearing part # covers more scoots than 06/07 dynas - fukn retarded

34k on mine and they are toast - but Ive been rolling with a bad rear rim for probably 8-9k so cant really blame anything but myself - so he just took it upon himself to replace them without consulting you first?! id a punched him in the throat (fairly common on jackfukks), thankd him for the free wheel bearing replacements and suggest he speak to me first next time
