you probably realize this now, but quit going to the dealer for anything not absolutely mandatory (I cant think of what that may be yet)

good luck!

Those bearing should last for 100,000 miles or so as long as you are not using a pressure washer on them.

wheel bearings are like being pregnant. they are or they arent. water, power washing or just a bad bearing could happen. either way your wrench may have saved you alot of grief. sometimes those things happen. i have 30M miles on my fxd and just changed both of them out with my tire change. figured it would be cheap insurance. ride safe.

I bought two sets off of ebay, cheap. I figure the next time the wheels come off I will replace them, but as far as being bad, I doubt it. In my case it is more like preventive maintenance instead of a damaged or worn out part.
part number is 20979

I wonder if they ruined the bearings while removing the axle? I can see that happening if the axle was stuck in there pretty good....maybe that's the common problem, your dealer can't remove axles in 06-07 bikes without ruining the bearings.

Not a Dyna, but I put some spokes on my Fatty off of an 07 Deluxe with 7k. A trip to the mtns and back and the rear bearing was toast. It started giving me a little unsettling feeling in cornering and a wobble under hard breaking. I just slapped my 20k fatboy wheel back on and called it good.

My 05 dyna will have around 50,000 by the next tire change. It has the same 1" bearings front and rear as the later models. I noticed the last time i replaced the tires that the bearings were starting to seep a little grease around the seals. Figure on replacing them next tire change just to be safe. Bearing should have lasted much longer than that.

Most likely they got water in them from washing. One bearing...sure bt 2 going bad? Highly unlikely. But, I replace them at 3rd tire anyway
