Why is my bike sputtering??
I just recently put on a heavy breather and a thunderheader but did no work to the carb do I need to? Just wondering because at low speeds and when its kinda cold still, as I'm riding it'll kind of miss? or something but it just sounds like its taking a short breath of air or something cuz I can hear an "air" sound when it sputters. Any idea's?

yeah you need to retune the carb...NOKK or 88 sporty needle, 46 small, 190 main jet. NOKK is probably the better needle. Also need to adjust the idle mixture. Of course it would help to know what you had on there before and what had been done to the carb in the past.

Thanks guys. Yeah I have no idea what was done before but I assume a little bit of jetting because the dude had a Pro Pipe on it before. I'll have someone look at it. Or is it something I can do? Nevermind I don't really wanna pull the air cleaner and stuff off myself it seems complicated is it?

Seems like the coughing is getting more frequent and is idling weird too. Is it common for it to get worse if I don't re-jet it right away? Also I don't have a license right now too so it might be loaded up cuz I'm kinda riding it like a sissy and not opening it up to clear it out. HELP!!! What do I buy to re-jet it or does the shop have jets when they do it?

This is what you need to do. You might need to order the 46 jet as Harley doesn't stock them. I would start with adjusting your idle mixture and then go from there. It sounds lean to me. A needle will make a huge difference.

If the rpms increase from the shot it means your intake gaskets are leaking and you need to remove the intake manifold, replace the gaskets and reinstall the manifold.
Sometimes when you replace the airfilter backing plate you will jarr the manifold and break its seal against the engine or the flanges.
Cheap fix and definitely part of the troubleshooting procedure.
