Progress photos - rear fender, pipes
Alright ... I've mentioned a couple of times that I got a new rear fender ... unpacked the boxes that were shipped with my bike and snapped a couple of photos so those who are interested could get a look at it ....
It's a '58-'84 hinged FL-type fender with a smooth backside ... will have to drill my own tail lamp and turn signal mounting holes ....
I plan to go with a look like the Softail Deluxe model or CVO Road King with a tombstone tail lamp and the same bullet turn signal bar I am currently sporting ... will probably go with a black tombstone to tie in with my theme ....
Have been talking with Joe Knapp (JRK5892) about powdercoating my new replacement front fender, the rear fender and my tank with the same color I am now using (Platinum Bronze Metallic) ....
Well, without further ado, here are the pics ....

A timeless fender, truly. I don't think there is any way to improve on the curves of those old factory fenders. For all you "bobber" fanatics, take a good look. That fender helped start the Original bobber trend. Typically, they didn't cut the fender at all, just removed the lower section at the hinge.

I think maybe the old Wide Glide 'bob-tail' (now Fat Bob ... also seen on Softails) originated from the fender being 'rolled forward' ... so that the flared part of the fender was horizontal ....
