Default What the CAM???

I have a 09 street bob with a Ness big sucker, screaming eagle race tuner and V&H big radius, it runs nice but was just wondering if anyone has changed their cams in their 96 and if it is worth it? Ride on!

I did and it was worth it, but if I had to do it again I would change the head gasket to a .030 MLS while I was at it. When I did mine I pulled the rockers to reuse the stock pushrods and I was almost there. I ended up going back and changing the gasket and had the heads ported at Big Boyz while they were off. It ran fine with cams only but with a $299. port job it really screams.

I have new cams ordered, but I will have to wait until the weather gets nice to see how it runs.
I did alot of research and decided to go with the Andrews 37H cams. They are bolt in cams so you don't need higher compression or more cubes.

What do you want from the cam? How do you ride? Cam should fit your style of riding.

http://www.harley-riders-guide.com/h...dson-cams.html Some cam info here. There is a lot of factors when picking cams, compression, how you ride, weight, passenger, future big bore, etc.

I am looking for something more in the middle to upper range, I don't want to have a asphalt burner for around town butt better sound and higher end.

I am having the S & S 510G cams installed and dyno tuned. I have a 07 Street Bob, Vance & Hines big shots staggered, Power commander. Should be done by early next week. I do alot of two-up riding. I will let you know how it turns out.

The Woods TW6 is also a bolt-in cam.

If you want a cam that comes on in the mid to upper rpm range the Zippers Red Shift 575 is a good set. I just had these installed in my Fat Bob, got about 50 miles on them so far. The torque comes on real strong at about 3700 rpm and peaks at about 3900 rpm and starts to fall off at about 4200 rpm. The horse power is climbing the whole time and starts falling at 5600 rpm. It's fun when you want to pass someone, just drop a gear to get it into that rpm range and the thing turns into a rocket, hold on to those bars. I am really happy with my choice so far. Cool sounding lopey idle too. More valve train noise though. Any way good luck choosing a set of cams, lots to choose from.
