ok soo i take the bike out for a spin today and i park it back in the shop so just about a hour ago i go back outside to get somthing out of the shop and what do i found that my bike pushed all kinds of oil out the air breather now the motor is coverd in it.. sorry just had to vent about it..

I did a oil change by my self a few weeks ago. Something happed to me. I freaked out. Come to find out, I should have put in ½ a qrt than what I put in. Over filled it. I run it now cold at between need oil and full sitting on the jiffy stand.

Ya sounds like to much oil.

If you fill the oil to the top of the fill line when its cold you are going to get alot of oil in your filter.

yea iv put 500miles on the oil change and the dealer is the one that did it for me like the first service job if u wana call it that..

I have heard of that happening on early 99- 2000 models but not on new ones. I will watch that on mine.

well iv had nothing but problems with this damn motor with the oiling system..but yea keep a eye on it man mine is a 09 fxdb..

Probably overfilled but if the bike sat for a long time it could be wet sumping.

I always just put 2.5 qts in and then check it after it has been ridden 30 minutes it is always within 1/2" of full when really hot.

what do u mean by wet sumping? i had troubles from day one when i got the bike with the oil pump oring inside which it was pumping it but never letting the oil return.
