LED Replacement Tailight

LED Replacement Tailight
Has anyone replaced the stock tailight bulb with an LED bulb. Meaning that you used the same existing tailight assembly, just put in an LED bulb instead. I noticed in the drag book that they sell them and I am looking for an opinion on this. I am getting a smoked tailight lens cover to replace the stock red one and since I have to order a new bulb as well, I thought I would get some opinion if anyone has used or seen one in action. I would also like to know where you got yours if anyone has this.

RE: LED Replacement Tailight
There are good ones and cheap ones available. A good/bright LED array with a wide range is fairly expensive. Like around $40'ish. And they are worth it. A cheap light actually provides less light than the stock bulb. I know, I was suckered in to that.
LED's draw milliamps, not amps. You will need a balancer for the turn signals, but not the brake/running lamp.
I installed the KA Panacea system. Kind of expensive, but works really well. Very eye catching. I don't think you'll find anything better.

I didn't change my tailight yet, but when i pu on the smoked turn signal covers i ordered amber led's from superbrightleds.com they were like $5 each and had somthing like 24 leds in each bulb, including ones on the back that illuminate into the reflector which makes it very bright. I highly recomend them, since i changed to leds in the turn signals i had to add the badlander3 module to compensate but it's worth it. I didn't get the bulb for the tailight which is a 3157 by the way, because i plan on getting the smoked led kuryakyn taillight as soon as i catch up on my debt from all the other stuff i bought for the bike.

Instead of looking at an LED bulb for the tail lamp, you should look at the Kuryakyn LED lens assbly. It is VERY bright and is a simple plug in unit, no load equalizers. Installation is a 5 minute job at best. I bought the layback LED lens and this thing is bright during the day and that can only mean more notice, which is a good thing. It was about $80.00 discounted, but well worth the cash.
