Default Mustang Wide Solo

I bought the Mustang Wide Solo for my street bob back in October. I really wish I would have bought the version with the back rest. Does anybody have the backrest version and how do you like it. I wish Mustang had a trade in program

I got the backrest. Really like it cause I can ride much longer without taking a break. For short trips, you can take it off easily.

Hey, first thing I noticed was the Wrinkles too. His are on the side of his seat most of the ones I have seen had them on the top of the seat, makes me feel right at home. Now to the OP point, yes the back rest is great. I could never have a bike with out one. I think they have the best backrest in the Business. Call Mustang up maybe they can work with you on one.

Default Mustang Wide Solo with Backrest

My presonal preferance is H-D stock seat for rides less than 200 miles.

For 200 to 300 miles I go with the Mustang Wide Solo (no backrest)

For 300 miles and more (450 is my max. so far) I add the backrest. Based on 4,000 miles of experience with my '09 Street Bob, I could probably do a 500 mile day ride with the backrest without much problem. And still be ready to ride the next day.

I don't think you can modify to add a backrest if you just bought the Mustang Wide Solo. You probably have to replace the whole seat.

I bought the one with the backrest, I hesitated at first because it's about double the price, but it'll be well worth it in the long run. Now if the weather would get better I could take it out and use it.

I have the backrest version and it's well worth the money on the long rides. I rode about 900 in two days with the stock seat and I was hurting. Rode home with the mustang seat with the backrest and felt good to go.

I sure like my backrest. Easily removed for short, around town rides but is really nice to lean back against on the highway.

I've been looking at the vintage solo, but all this talk about the backrest is making me consider that. I guess I'm just a little hung up on the wider seat in order to get the backrest. Does it look big on the bike? or does it blend nicely? The regular vintage solo looks like it would be a good fit, but can't get a backrest with that model.
