Default Is this a good price?

As I said I have been shopping around for Harleys, and ran into this today.....I am still not at the buying point yet, but I wanted to get feedback on going rates for the Dynas...

Local Harley place has a 2005 Black Cherry Pearl Dyna Super Glide Custom with 326 miles on it. Fuel Injected, Factory Security, and Sissy Bar.....

List price is $14,000...Can you do better than that? Or is that a fair price?

That sounds a little high...at least when thinking in terms of MSRP. MSRP on a brand new 07 superglide custom is 14,645.
I understand that depending on where you live, getting a harley at or below MSRP is pretty difficult. I live in NJ...good luck finding a harley at MSRP. That said, you're talking about a bike that's now 2 years old...it has none of the updates that were part of the 06 dyna makeover, and they're asking for just under MSRP of a brand new superglide custom.

Just my opinion, but I think that's too high. Others may disagree.
Good luck.

I agree totally. Seems a little high for a now 2 year old bike. I think I would pass on it and keep shoping, especially if your not quite rady to buy anyway.

That's what I thought, but still being the new guy around here, i was just wondering. I wonder how far down you could talk the stealer on a bike like that. Hmm.. thanks for the input. I just want to make sure I cover all my basis. I have been reading up on the Dynas here of late, and I think that is the way I am going to go when I finally bite the bullet.

Thanks!

Just a note...I mentioned the 06 updates in my last post. Now I'm not saying anything bad about previous year dynas....but there were some really major changes to the dyna model line in 06 (if you want the specifics, just google it..."06 HD dyna updates")...If you're like me, and you want the latest and greatest stuff when you make a big purchase...I'd try to stick with an 06 or newer.
Once again...not bashing the 05s or earlier...just letting you know

Yeah, I should have done a little bit more looking before I posted. Searched a little more and found an '06 Dyna Super Glide Custom about 3 hours away with a 14,470 sticker price on it. As I mentioned, just trying to get my ducks in a row before I make the jump.

I am wondering would it before more cost effective to get the SuperGlide and customize it (second seat, passenger pegs, highway pegs) or just getting a SuperGlide Custom?

I always like getting the "Plain Jane" and customizing it myself...

I bought an '06 SuperGlide, added seat, pegs, chrome engine kit. and chrome tank console. It ended up being about $1000 less than a SuperGlide Custom, and the only difference is speedo and headlight covers are black instead of chrome.
