Default Air cleaner cover options ??

My 08 street bob motor is stock and I am not ready to do the full power commander re-tune. The way I understand it if I don't change the backplate then I won't need a re-tune. Do I have any options changing my cover to a smaller more open cover? If I go to a open filter can I get by with doing a download to re-map from the dealer? Anybody got any ideas for a good looking air cleaner? Pics would be nice. Thanks

If all you're ever going to do is that mod, the dealer download is fine but if there is a chance you will do more performance mods do yourself a favor and don't waste $150 on the download. Put it towards a decent fuel management. Spend a lil more now to save it on the back end.

Has to do with a higher flowing air cleaner. Of course a different backplate is part of the stage 1 a/c upgrade.

So...you're not doing any mod and yet you're thinking of spending $150 at the dealer...for what reason???

I'm not ready to go Stage 1 either but hated the football. So I swapped on the round a/c from a Crossbones. Since this pic I've painted it to match the primary - will have new pics soon. Cheap (assuming you find someone with a take off CB a/c) and very easy - bolt on with only new breather bolts and one new gasket - $15.

Sc-longhair I guess your right. I was just wanting to rid the bike of the football and have a smaller more open look there. I figure with a tuner and a/c and then the tune I'm prolly looking at around $650-$750. Not ready to spend that much right now so I was lookinggfir other options. I'm thinking if I can't do something simple to change the look then I could just get a open filter and a download for half that. But it's kinda like pay me now and pay me later.

Taddeoeg.... That's something like I was thinking but was wanting something even smaller than that look. Thanks guys.

you could probably do a wimmer system and choose one of their small air filters.. They don't flow large amounts of air, your ecm may compensate for the change just fine...only problem is the cost.

Default easy

put the round harley se ac on for $150. or the round ness for $129. Either one will reveal alot more of your motor. I went with the harley rig.

They are both about 5 3/4 in. in diameter. Alot smaller tham that crossbones rig above which is 8 in. I believe.
