Storage unit for my Harley
Riding season is about a month and a half away for me. My bike is currently in my parents basement, about 20 minutes away from my house.
I don't have a garage on my house, so I'm wondering what I could use to store my new bike, without spending a $1,000 on a storage shed. Nor do I just want to use a cover. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I recommend shelling out the money for a storage shed or rental on a storage unit. You really need something which will minimize moisture and will allow air to circulate to help preserve the finishes on the bike.
I say that knowing you don't want to spend the money, but you should shoot to get or build one in the future.
For now, check out bikebarn.net. They offer a framed cover. It will cover your bike without touching it. They are portable, lockable and are available with several accessories. They are on sale right now with free shipping.
Again, I wouldn't consider one as a permanent option, but much better than a hundred dollar Harley cover.

my bike has to sit outside but then again i dont have a choice considering the military isnt too fond of people building stuff on their property. so when it rains i have to throw a cover over it. if i were you id either go with that bike barn thing or get a cheap shed. either way... better than nothing.

My wallet doesn't like going to my HD dealer too much but I gotta say they have inside heated storage for $225 a season. That includes stabil, oil change and filter and a quick check over. I live in MI and have a 30' x 40' pole barn but alot cheaper for me to pay the HD dealer than to heat my barn. Not sure what your Dealer situation is but might be worth checking into. I have friends that have bought the temporary type of storage units like the motoshell and with the snow we get here they will collapse unless you keep them cleaned off all the time. My friend went away for a week and came back to 12 inches of snow, vinyl and aluminum sitting on top of his bike. Those would probably work if you don't live in a snowy area though. Just my opinion.

whatever you get, make sure it's lockable. better yet does one of your neighbors have a garage? throw them 50 a month to park the bike there with a guarentee that you'll roll it down the block (or at least into your own driveway) before starting it up at 6am on a saturday morning.

Get a Harley bubble and keep it in your living room. LOL
I have a storage barn I put a lot more than 1000 bucks for I keep mine in. But with a concrete floor, moisture is always a problem when it's cold and warms up outside. So, whatever you do, do something to prevent moisture. I keep a small fan on either side of my bike and flip them on when the humidity gets up like that. Sometimes I walk in there and it's like my bike just got out of the bathtub without a towel.
