If I ever get questioned on my apes, I will pull my Military ID and hope that helps if not I will break out my allen wrench on the spot and adjust to Sir's or Mam's visual discrepancy with my ape height, hopefully they understand my feeling of being free to ride my Harley at my most comfortable position. I respect and support our police force, they have to deal with idiots all day long.
