Default open primary-belt drive

Anyone install a belt drive open primary on a dyna? I've been wanting to but I want to know if some one has one and has put alot of miles on it. If so would you do it again or stay with stock?

I don't personally own one but a buddy of mine has one. It seems to be a total pain in the *** to me. Everytime a small stone gets thrown up into it the belt shreds itself. They look and sound cool but they're best left for the showbikes.

I just ordered a closed primary belt drive ... I'm not doing it for looks so didn't really care if anyone can see it or not ... I also kind of like the look of an open chain drive ... I think Indian Larry Legacy/Paul *** is one of the current builders with that look ....

If going with an open belt drive, I kind of prefer the old school look of a narrow belt drive vice the widest you can find 3-1/2" or whatever ... I would think a narrower belt would reduce the likelihood of a foreign object lodging on the belt ....

Just my $0.02 ....

A couple of sources for the open chain drive primary - Tech Cycles (on p. 16 of their catalog) and Bare Knuckle Choppers (on the "parts" tab on their web page)

Tech Cycles also has belt drives for '06 and later Dyna ('07 and later twin cam) ... as do several other mfrs ....
